Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager the role holder will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the SQL Server estate that supports the production, user test and development application environments.

Description
  • Be responsible for the hands-on delivery of best practice support of Microsoft SQL Database services
  • Maintain and support all MS-SQL Databases IT environment in line with MS best practice
  • Security policy
  • Governance procedures - where none exist create and gain approval
  • Define and set out a dated series of value add, operational, performance and availability activities
  • Measure and report the value add of the role has in operational terms
  • Integration of data from multiple sources
  • Project lead, be involved, manage and support data migrations with external partners
  • To maintain and support data gathering and assimilation from applications, services and projects
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of the database
  • Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Database design and implementation
  • Use exiting or develop new protocols for data processing

Profile
  • MS - SQL Administration 20xx
  • SQL Reporting Services, Always On, migrations and upgrades
  • MS Windows Clustering and Server
  • VMware/Virtualisation
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Security, backup and recovery technologies
  • Over 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Some exposure in project delivery, primarily as a team member
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and execute tasks in an operational application and technical environment
