EDF Renewables UK ("EDF RUK") is a joint venture between EDF Energy and EDF Renouvelables. EDF RUK is responsible for developing, constructing, and operating renewable assets in the UK. EDF RUK currently operates nearly 800MW of wind energy and storage facilities. In addition, EDF RUK is seeking to deliver between 50 to 80 MW each year from its own development pipeline or though securing new acquisitions of projects or portfolios capable of delivering growth and value to its Shareholders.

The role

The Accountants are key roles in the EDF RUK Finance Team. The Accountants will work with their manager and senior accountant to ensure delivery of the EDF RUK Finance team's objectives.

Principal Accountabilities

The Accountant will assist the Manager with the following:

Helping the identification and implementation of opportunities for continuous development of processes and information to meet changing customer needs.
Delivery of documentation on the team's key processes

In the Financial Reporting & Planning team, the focus will be on
Integrity and assurance of the financial ledgers (sales accruals, operating costs and balance sheet)
Planning for EDF RUK's financial reporting processes, this includes monthly reporting, formal forecasts, medium-term plan and investment survey. For these processes, lead the consolidation of the asset teams' results to present the total EDF RUK view.
Delivery of monthly and quarterly reporting, formal forecasts, medium-term plans and investment surveys. Accountable for their submission into the financial systems of our shareholders
Assisting the change in the financial systems used with EDF RUK including the establishment of new companies within the reporting systems
The provision of external audit requirements to quality and time and identification and delivery of improvements in this process.
Ensuring accounting policies are successfully implemented and operating effectively across EDF RUK
The statutory accounts process for EDF RUK and production of those accounts under UK GAAP to ensure a smooth audit process and timely completion.
Liaising with the Senior Tax Manager to ensure tax compliance of EDF RUK
Delivery of documentation on the team's key processes

In the Management Reporting team, the focus will be on
Production and provision of management information by liaising with the Business Partnering teams for forecast information and Financial Reporting & Planning team for actual performance
The FAM to integrate the forecast financial information with existing actual system data to provide the Financial Reporting & Planning team with the required inputs for the reporting systems (SAP and BOFC)
Assisting in the delivery of monthly and quarterly reporting, formal forecasts, medium-term plans and investment surveys information packs. These are for EDF RUK and external investors
Initiating improvements to the management reporting processes to achieve an efficient and effective reporting process.
Helping to managing the provision of internal governance, risk and control requirements to quality and time and identification and delivery of improvements in this process.

In the Business Partnering teams, the focus will be on
Articulating to the EDF RUK business the key messages behind the financial performance
Delivery of pertinent analysis to facilitate EDF RUK management team's and wider business's understanding of the performance of the relevant portfolio to aid decision-making
Helping to developing the financial forecasts of the relevant assets and challenging the business teams on the assumptions driving these forecasts
Representing EDF RUK Finance in key meetings with other business departments, EDF RUK Executive and external investors
Assisting in the development of new business-facing processes for new areas of activity within EDF RUK e.g. integration of new assets and liaising with the Investor Relations & Financing Senior Manager to establish the appropriate funding facilities
Projects to deliver organisational performance improvements leading to increasing profitability and/ or cash flow
Understanding and analysing external economic trends, including the impact of government legislation, and the impact on the EDF RUK business
Understanding the drivers of long-term profitability to facilitate management decision-making in areas such as capital expenditure priorities and new business areas
Assisting in the financial aspects of the acquisition and disposal of projects and assets

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Accounting qualification (ACA/ CIMA/ ACCA). Several years' experience working in industry.
Knowledge of both UK GAAP and IFRS, experience of preparing statutory accounts (if applicable) and the confidence to apply them to practical examples is essential
Knowledge of accounting policies, processes and systems.
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Able to challenge the way things are done and look at ways to make improvements to the business
Proficient IT skills
