My client, a leading South Yorkshire law firm, are looking to recruit an Employment lawyer to lead their busy and successful Employment team. Being based in Sheffield the successful candidate will have responsibility for overseeing and successfully managing the Employment Department, leading them on a daily basis.
Taking responsibility for the effective management and performance of the team as a whole;
Having the responsibility for personnel management across the team;
Managing and monitoring caseloads and workloads as well as managing risk and dealing with any complaints;
Liaising with third party intermediaries and building long-lasting relationships with these parties;
Working closely with internal management teams to ensure the teams work as effectively as possible and to ensure the correct systems and processes are in place to deliver the highest standard of service to clients;
Managing staff and conducting performance management duties;
Implementing training programmes for the department;
Conducting external training sessions for clients, third parties and audiences;
Helping the team to achieve team targets and follow all regulatory requirements;
Ensuring that the case management system is working successful and recommending improvements where necessary;
Assisting the team with their caseloads when required; and
Ensuring that the team are dealing with their cases as successfully as possible, monitoring communications to clients and recommending any improvements where necessary.
Ideally the successful candidate will;
Have previous experience of managing a large legal team. Ideally you will be a solicitor (although this is not essential) and will have an excellent technical and working knowledge of employment law and procedures;
Be able to mentor and train the team as well as being responsible for performance management tasks;
Be a self-motivated candidate who has excellent organisational skills;
Be an ambitious and forward thinking candidate who can adapt to change and be pro-active in approach;
Be confident with a variety of IT packages;
Be accurate and be able to read and digest a high volume of legal documents;
Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
Be able to keep updated with the law and relevant regulatory guidance and legislation; and
Be strategic in approach in order to plan and enhance the services on offer moving forward.
