Health, Safety and Environmental Officer

Job Location: Dorchester, Dorset

Job Type: 12 month contract (Possibility of extension)

Salary: Depending on experience

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday

A forward thinking organisation that is well renowned within their industry as market leaders of Science & Technology solutions to the MOD, Royal Navy & other corporate defence customers is currently looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer to join their team on a 12 month contract to ensure the company meets its legislative responsibilities and management system requirements in an efficient and effective manner.

Within this role you will be responsible for SHE, covering but not limited to:
  • SHE inspection and audit
  • Risk Assessment
  • Initiate Accident/Incident Investigation Reports
  • SHE committee and Safety Boards
  • SHE Training co-ordinator
  • Report SHE activity progress and matters of concern to the Head of Department
  • Continuous improvement of SHE policies, processes and working practices
  • Implementing emergency procedures
  • Arrange health surveillance

The successful applicant will possess:
  • Previous experience within a similar position
  • Hold a relevant qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH)
  • Sound knowledge of Health safety and environmental law
  • Manufacturing/Production experience
  • Trained Auditor
  • ISO 14001/50001/OHAS 18001 understanding

Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate must be able to achieve full SC (Security Clearance).

Location: Dorchester, this role is on the outskirts so travel times from the following are:
  • From Poole, 30 minutes
  • From Ferndown, 40 minutes
  • From Blandford, 30 minutes
  • From Sherborne, 45 minutes
  • From Yeovil, 45 minutes
  • From Wimborne, 35 minutes
  • From Wareham, 14 minutes
