Class Teacher, Peel Primary School, 35 hours per week, Fixed term until 14th August 2022, Closing date 26th September 2021

Peel Primary School is a large non-denominational school serving the community of Eliburn in Livingston. The school roll is currently 421 pupils arranged in 16 classes. In addition to this there is a nursery class, Eliburn Nursery Class, which is housed in a separate building. The nursery has a roll of 60 children aged 3-5 years. The Senior Leadership Team consist of a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and a Principal Teacher. The school is staffed by a team of teaching and non-teaching staff, working together to support and challenge learners across the school. The nursery is staffed by an Early Years Officer, 5 Nursery Nurses (full and part time) and 3 Pupil Support Workers.

There is an Administrative Assistant and a Clerical Assistant. The school works in partnership with Inveralmond High School and cluster primary schools, the Parent Council and the wider parent forum to ensure the best outcomes for all children and families.

This session, the priority for improvement is to develop excellence through raising attainment and achieving equity, particularly focused on the areas below:
  • Improvement in all children and young people's wellbeing
  • Raising attainment for all, particularly in literacy and numeracy
  • Closing the attainment gap between the most and least advantaged children
  • Improvement in employability skills and sustained, positive school leaver destinations for all young people

The successful candidate will join a highly committed staff team and wider community who work together to raise attainment and further develop our curriculum and approaches to effective learning, teaching and assessment. They will have opportunities to be creative and imaginative in their approaches to ensuring high quality learning experiences for all learners within the school and in a climate which promotes equity for all.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
