We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the expanding Vaccine Team within the Area Stores Department (Vaccine Holding Centre) at St Johns Hospital in Livingston.
The successful candidate will be part of a hard working, highly motivated team of staff who ensure the timely and safe supply of vaccines to assist in the delivery of the National Immunisation Programmes within locations throughout NHS Lothian. You will work closely with the Area Pharmacy Store Manager and Deputy to manage the day to day running of the department and ensure maintenance of the MHRA WDA license. You should be an organised, flexible, enthusiastic and motivated Technician who can work under pressure to tight deadlines and enjoys interaction with other healthcare staff.
Duties will include
- Supervision and assisting in management of Technical staff and PSWs within the Vaccine Holding centre.
- Ensuring correct ordering and receipt of vaccines
- Maintaining and ensuring correct cold chain storage of vaccines and other ambient medicines
- Assembly of all vaccine orders for dispatch to Mass Vaccination Centres, GP surgeries, Health Centres and Schools/Universities within NHS Lothian.
- Attending regular meetings with NHS Lothian Public Health, NHS Lothian Vaccination Teams and National Vaccination Team colleagues to maintain existing vaccination programmes and future planning.
This role requires an ability to balance patients needs, service objectives using organisational and people skills to maintain and progress this expanding service.
Candidates must have a National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent, be a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council, a Higher National Certificate in Pharmacy Services and have or are willing to work towards a Designated Checking Technician certificate.
Full time post hours (37.5 hrs) of work will be on a shift system working 5 days out of 7 with hours between Monday to Sunday 6am 7pm and participation in working Public Holidays.
