REPORTING TO: Head of Operational Resilience

Role Purpose

We are looking for someone who is ready to take their career to the next level, to develop not only their Business Continuity & Crisis Management skills, but to also develop their leadership skills working for a FTSE100 Financial Services company

The Business Continuity Manager will work within the BCM team, which is part of HL's 2nd line Operational Resilience function, supporting the Group Business Continuity Manager in the day to day management of the BCM programme across the group. The role will focus on:
  • Improving and strengthening the existing BCM programme
  • Providing Business Continuity expert advice to all business area's within HL
  • Co-ordination of response to major incidents/crisis providing expert advice, guidance and leadership

You will proactively look to emerging best practice to deliver high quality support, actively managing the expectations of senior leaders and communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, whilst ensuring that the BCM framework will meet HL's regulatory requirements and aligns with the organization's strategy and values.

Key Accountabilities
  • Developing further HL's existing Business Continuity Management programme to ensure it aligns with ISO22301
  • Supporting the Crisis Management Team in the event of a major Incident or Crisis and deputising for the Group Business Continuity Manager as required
  • Engaging with business areas to perform the annual Business Impact Analysis, determining the impact to the business, challenging the results, ensuring that they are consistent with the business requirements and the Operational Resilience outputs
  • Ensuring that Crisis Management and Business Continuity plans, procedures, playbooks & standards are up to date, effective and rehearsed
  • Developing a framework for continuous improvement
  • Management of the Business Continuity tool, ensuring that this is being used effectively across the business
  • Providing regular horizon scanning and engaging across the business to plan for disruptive events which may result in high levels of contact to HL ensuring minimum disruption to our clients
  • Plan, oversee and report on the programme of testing across the business
  • Developing further of the metrics for Business Continuity and the reporting of these to the relevant internal committees
  • Providing ongoing training and coaching to both Senior stakeholders and a network of Business Continuity Champions, ensuring that they can apply Business Continuity processes for their areas in a practical and pragmatic way
  • Supporting the facilitation of responses to client questions, tenders and due diligence surveys
  • Developing and manage the Business Continuity risk register
  • Must be prepared to be available, 'on-call', 24/7/365 to support event escalation and co-ordination.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Recent proven experience in Business Continuity and Crisis Management, ideally within a regulated financial services company
  • Ability to interact and work closely with Senior stakeholders across the business
  • Demonstrable and in-depth knowledge of ISO22301
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Ability to build relationships with a range of different stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong skills in planning, prioritising and communicating
  • Proactive, taking new opportunities to enhance the BCM programme
