Position : Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location : Yorkshire - ideally within 45 minutes commute of Rotherham as hybrid working is not available for this role
Salary : Very negotiable according to experience but likely to be in the £40,000-£60,000 bracket

Note : due to security clearance requirements, we can only consider UK passport holders

About the role :

Providing mechanical engineering expertise as part of a multi-disciplined team working on major CAPEX projects

Skills and Experience

You will be focused on how complex machines and structures work. You will be responsible for input into factors such as :-

  • Stress, loads, deflection, structural calculations
  • Material selection - weight of materials v strength v cost of materials
  • Fatigue - assessments - calcs based, typically FEA based, wind,
  • Stability - from cutting forces -machine tools, vibration, stiffness,
  • Lifting or moving capacity - strength of materials, typically metallic, but could be a mix with bonding/welding/fabrication.
  • Bolted joints, pin or moment taking,
  • Power
  • Motor sizing, electric or IC, typically in kW to move something or provide torque
  • Torque delivery, transmissions
  • Drive shafts/couplings

About You

Minimum degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or very similar - Automotive, Aerospace, Structural or similar
Post graduate qualifications beneficial - Masters, MEng, PhD, Chartered etc
UK Passport holder, able to undergo security clearance
Experience of the above engineering elements in any sector - automotive, aerospace, structural, construction, We are not looking for experience in CFD / valves etc unfortunately.
