Job Description
Depute Head Teacher

Stenhouse Primary School

Salary: £59,850

Hours: 35

A rare opportunity has arisen for an inspirational leader. Due to a secondment, we are looking to recruit an acting DHT for the duration of the substantive post holders secondment (until May 2023).

Stenhouse is a busy primary school consisting of a 40 place nursery offering 1140hrs, 14 mainstream classes and 2 Language and Communication Classes. Our SLT consists of HT, BM, DHT, PT, and Equity DO.

We aspire to eliminate the poverty-related attainment gap for our community and are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, nurturing person to join our Senior Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated as a team player as well as being able to take the initiative and deputise in the absence of the HT. A proven track record in whole school developments and improvements will be desirable.

The remit of the acting DHT will consist of being ASN and GIRFEC lead, as well as mainstream responsibilities, including our Equalities agenda. The role is a wonderful opportunity for someone who have children and their families at the core of their own values and who will establish strong and sustainable relationships with both pupils, families and staff.

Other aspects of the DHT remit would include ICT, Excursions, Transition and Probationer SIM. The successful candidate will be able to bring their expertise to other aspects of school development on starting.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
