As Social Media Coordinator, you will working closely with the campaigns and fundraising team to effectively manage and implement a highly professional and effective social media strategy. The role will include creating video content on our platforms eg reels and TikTok and creating ground-breaking online strategies for campaigns to raise awareness on our investigations and projects for farmed animals. The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage time efficiently as the position is home-based. Strong copy writing skills are a must. Previous professional experience within the animal rights field is desirable, but not necessary. Previous experience in a paid social media role is also highly desirable. Being a small NGO that will only succeed through absolute determination of its staff, Animal Justice Project requires each team member to be both outstanding in their abilities, and dedicated to the cause of animal rights. Expect long hours and weekend work.

Core tasks include the creation of imaginative social media strategies, writing copy for posts, creating professional video content, and managing social media at our street events.

Job Description Social Media Management

  • Implement and manage the social media calendar – schedule engaging posts daily using Hootsuit on all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok). Ensure breaking news and updates go out in a timely fashion
  • Create and share three videos a week on Instagram (reels) and TikTok
  • Build and execute innovative and powerful social media campaigns (The Foul Truth, Expired, Scammed! and others)
  • Schedule monthly paid social media ads
  • Work with external videographers to create monthly videos for all platforms
  • Reporting – effectively report on and analyse social media in monthly reports to the team, including the success of paid adverts and new followers
  • Attend weekly campaigns meeting – put ideas on the table and play an active role in campaign strategy
  • Stay up-to-date on algorithm changes and best practices to keep ahead of marketing trends and implement these effectively

Content Creation

  • Create engaging content and request graphics for key animal rights events and national days
  • Write and schedule engaging captions on posts
  • Use relevant hashtags
  • Stories – create regular and engaging stories for Instagram and Facebook. Explore new functions such as gifs to ensure AJP stays ahead of the game. Run polls, ‘ask me anything’ and gifs
  • Go live at least weekly on stories
  • Proofreading – you will be responsible for proofreading your own copy. Spelling and grammar must be flawless

Community Engagement

  • Comments and messages – daily checks on all platforms, as well as replying with relevant links to campaign action, newsletter sign up, and donation asks. Relay queries about our work to relevant team members
  • Stories – re-share and acknowledge tags
  • Influencer and vegan business outreach
