Criminal justice charity Belong provides hope, rehabilitation and recovery for victims and perpetrators of crime.
At Belong: Making Justice Happen, we are looking for a volunteer Social Media Officer to join us and play your part in helping to make our vision of a society where there is hope, rehabilitation and recovery for victims and perpetrators of crime, a reality.
Supported by our Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to support and implement Belong’s social media and communications plan. The opportunity will lead to experience and growth in a well-established and respected charity.

We hope that any recruit would be comfortable working within a prison setting and with prisoners. We are a diverse organisation and encourage applications from those who have been in prison or in conflict with the law. We also encourage application from individuals from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
You will be working with Belong’s Development Manager to implement actions identified in our Social Media plan. This includes:
- Planning, creating and posting social media posts across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin, using Canva and video software.
- Supporting social media communications with followers.
- Tracking and reporting on engagement and activity across social media sites.
- Supporting on developing specialist campaigns.
3-hours of support a week would make a huge difference, and any support over and above those hours would be welcomed.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a passion for social media and experience in using platforms such as twitter, facebook and Instagram. Individuals with a knowledge of the kinds of issues that may be faced by people who have been convicted of and/or been a victim of criminal offences is also preferable.
The successful volunteer will understand and be committed to Belong’s strategic aims and values, will have excellent writing and research skills, excellent communication and listening skills, and excellent organisational skills.
Individuals will be honest, resilient, hardworking, organised, self-motivated, confident, non-judgemental flexible, reliable, committed to confidentiality and equality, and willing to learn and develop.
