Richmond Pharmacology is a leading Contract Research Organization with a reputation for excellence in the delivery of phase I to phase III clinical trials across a broad range of therapeutic areas. We have a growing medical team and are looking to add a Junior Doctor to our ranks who will contribute to the work we do by selecting volunteers (healthy and patient) for inclusion in our clinical trials.
Prior experience in clinical trials or research is not required. The role is likely to suit a Junior Doctor looking to gain insight and experience ahead of making any decisions about specialist training pathways, or perhaps a doctor who has decided to take a step away from primary / secondary care and is looking to move into a commercial environment and build a management oriented future.
This is a busy role, combining your clinical and organizational skills. You will need to familiarise yourself with a range of study protocols and will need to assess individual volunteers according to inclusion / exclusion criteria, bringing your medical experience and knowledge to bear in order to decide whether or not it is medically safe for an individual to participate in a trial. The safety of our volunteers continues to be our primary concern and the Screening Research Physician's function is to ensure that only volunteers who can safely be dosed with an IMP are included in our trial cohorts.
Richmond Pharmacology completes between 30 and 35 trials a year on average, so you will have plenty of opportunity to get involved with a broad spectrum of trial designs. Longer term, it may be possible to transition to a full Research Physician training post, where you will then have the chance to register as a trainee for Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training, ultimately gaining a CCT.
Doctors interested in applying for this role must be fully GMC registered, with a licence to practice and must be completing regular appraisals / ARCP's in preparation for revalidation. In addition, you will have completed at least 1 year as a doctor in a clinical setting after completing Foundation Training (perhaps an F3 year).
This is an excellent opportunity to gain some insight into working as a Research Physician in a dedicated, commercial clinical trials unit. If you are interested in the opportunity and would like to apply, please follow the link to our BambooHR candidate portal and register your interest. You will be asked to supply a CV and basic contact details.
