Our market leading client is looking to secure the services of a Network Architect - Core/IP to join their team on a permanent basis.

As the Network Architect - Core/IP, you will be accountable for the development and delivery of the active service portfolio, encompassing skills that include system & network administration, as well as strong project management.

The Network Architect - Core/IP role will cover many of the following areas of expertise:
  • Architecture - Define active network strategy including operational and commercial models required to implement solution. This includes the High Level Design, supporting Product documentation, commercial management/vendor selection
  • Design & Deliver - establishing networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
  • Operate Monitor - maximizing network performance by creating and implementing framework for monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimisation
  • Operate Management - define & implement the operational framework for the management of the underlying resources of the active network, eg IP addressing, backhaul capacity, access network scaling
  • Operate Fix - In support of the Network Operations group undertaking data network fault investigations in MAN & WAN environments as a final line of Tier3/4

Required knowledge, skills & experience of a Network Architect - Core/IP:
  • Clear commercial & strategy accountability in other roles
  • Well developed troubleshooting skills and methodologies
  • Broad Vendor management experience
  • Business case & financial modelling experience
  • Excellent understanding of IP routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and ISIS
  • Excellent understanding of mpls, ldp and RSVP, segment routing
  • Excellent understanding of layer 2 technologies with an emphasis on ethernet
  • Excellent understanding of qos
  • Experience in service offerings such as l2vpn, l3vpn and vpls
  • Programming in one or more of Perl, Rest, Shell, Phython
  • Network security experience · Network monitoring systems experience
  • LAN/MAN IP and Layer 2 network design
  • MAN DWDM network design and implementation (multi-vendor)
  • Experience of broad range of Layer 2 and Layer 3 equipment providers
  • Experience of alternate operating and process methodologies, and history of implementing change programs within multiple companies
