Department OverviewThe BAM Global Manager Finance team in London is comprised of 6 qualified Accountants, 1 part qualified accountant, 3 Accounts Payable/Receivable and 1 Systems Accountant who are responsible for the Global Manager activities in Europe. They support both the corporate operations and the wider business groups in London. Besides typical finance team responsibilities of bookkeeping and internal reporting, ownership and good practice of financial controls, planning and forecasting, the team are responsible for external reporting and compliance, including regulatory filings, leading and directing finance lead improvement initiatives as well as ensuring the overall Brookfield Global Manager strategies are fulfilled

Role OverviewTo work within the existing European Group Finance team, taking ownership of certain entities and becoming extensively and integrally involved in the financial and regulatory reporting of the entities assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee a few corporate entities - responsibility is an all-encompassing, total ownership basis
  • Month end management accounts and reporting for assigned entities - timely and accurate monthly closing of accounting books, including journal entries, intercompany agreement, and preparation of all required supporting P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of monthly VAT return and accompanying balance sheet reconciliation
  • Assist with the annual statutory financial statement preparation, compilation of audit files and gathering other supporting information as required
  • Assist the accounts payable team with invoice coding where required
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual business plan for assigned entities
  • Establish strong working relationships with the London based Brookfield Management Group departments, as well as the finance members of other local Brookfield businesses
  • Support initiatives to improve processes and operational efficiency and enhanced internal controls
Technical Skills
  • Degree qualified, and a strong academic background
  • Interest in pursuing an accounting designation
  • Self-motivated and open minded, with a willingness to learn
  • Have an ability to work independently and as part of a team, fostering relationships accordingly
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and takes initiative
  • Organised, always on the ball and able to effectively prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Basic command of Excel and the MS Office applications suite
  • Professional in approach and comfortable working in a corporate environment
