The Service Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of Hafal's ABUHB Recovery Service. To include monitoring, quality compliance and health and safety of the service, together with a key focus on continuous improvement and development in partnership with the Occupational Therapists and County Manager.
You and the team will provide tailored, recovery orientated one-to-one support for mental health service users, facilitating their transition and discharge from secondary care into the community. The focus is on promoting independence, recovery, and resilience, using a strengths-based approach which engages people as equals. The aim is for individuals to engage in and sustain mainstream activities, wherever possible in ordinary community settings, alongside other members of the community. The support provided will be for a time limited period of 8-12 weeks.
All staff will be embedded within multi-disciplinary mental health teams on the wards and in the community across Gwent. Working closely with occupational therapists and other multi-disciplinary team members, staff will support individuals who are identified predominantly through engaging on the Recovery Through Activity programme prior to discharge. You and the team will support individuals to build on the skills developed on the programme and to develop a personal plan, that can be supported into the community.
The service will be available Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, and will respond flexibly to both service and client need, where necessary providing services on evenings and weekends.
Service Manager Main Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the staff team to deliver an exceptional service to all Hafal clients by demonstrating best practice through delivery.
Direct line management responsibilities for members of the staff team, including allocation of staff locations, agreeing objectives, and setting out methods of working, providing Support and Supervision and Annual Appraisal.
Ensure adequate staffing levels to support the capacity of the service.
Ensure flexibility within the team to ensure all wards are covered.
Identify staff training needs and liaise with the County Manager to ensure that the team have access to the appropriate training.
Establish and manage effective working relationships and pathways with both statutory and non-statutory services and organisations within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area.
Work in partnership with the County Manager to ensure that monitoring and reporting objectives are met, data is reviewed and evaluated to ensure the service is effective and accountable, and any changes needed to the delivery of our contract made quickly and with no disruption to the services.
Develop and maintain clear boundaries of your respective roles and establish clear lines of communication between you and the secondary care teams.
Ensure adherence to all Health and Safety regulations, Quality Standards and best practice relating to the project
Act in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR and Information Governance
Working closely with the HR department, ensure the effective monitoring of sickness absence and performance management
Participate in the recruitment of staff to maintain staffing levels which ensure optimal service delivery within agreed budget.
Represent Hafal, internally and externally at local, regional, and national events; promoting its services and contribute to local, regional, and national Hafal campaigns, events and projects.
To assist County Managers in identifying opportunities for additional and/or new delivery/services/projects; providing key local information & knowledge to inform the preparation of tenders and grant applications.
To provide direct support to individuals referred into the service that may have varying levels of mental health need/diagnosis. Facilitating their ongoing recovery and engagement with the wider community.
