EB Recruitment is seeking an experienced Legal Audio Typist for a large UK firm. This role can be based in either Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Reporting to the PA Coordinator and supporting across the firms various departments, this role will involve:

  • Transcribe dictation from a digital dictation system (winscribe) ensuring that realistic timescales are met, and that work is accurate and well presented
  • Undertake the production and amendment of documents in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel as required
  • Edit and redraft documents making sure that they conform to new styles and layout
  • Meet time limits set by fee earners and to liaise with fee earners/Co-ordinator if limits cannot be met
  • Answer telephone calls taking precise and clear messages regarding special instructions for WP documents
  • Report faulty documents, printer errors etc. so that these can be logged by IT Support
  • Ensure all documents are formatted to the Firm's style, font and layout
  • Work as a team if more than one person is needed to complete a special project
  • Liaise as appropriate with the daytime Secretarial Coordinators to ensure that they are kept fully updated about the progress of specific documents
  • Be available if required to work additional hours to ensure the completion of urgent documents
  • Advise the Co-ordinator of any problems/grievances so that these can be dealt with promptly in an appropriate manner
  • To send external e-mails as appropriate
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by line manager/fee earner

Skills and Experience:

  • Legal audio typing experience is essential
  • Digital dictation - Winscribe advantageous
  • Fast and accurate typing skills to high volumes of work
  • Possess excellent attention to detail
  • Have good communication skills and organisation skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft - Word and Excel. PowerPoint would be advantageous
  • Team player
