Tradewind are recruiting! Are you a resilient and optimistic individual wanting to work as a Teaching Assistant for a SEN Primary school in Surrey?

Tradewind are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant for an independent school in Surrey . The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 08:30-15:30, to start in September and is ongoing, and will most likely become permanent for the right candidate.

The school in Surrey is a 'outstanding' Ofsted rated school. The curriculum has been tailored around the needs of the individual children. The school place the children's personal and social development at the very centre of everything they do, helping to create well rounded, happy children. By incorporating the National Curriculum within cross curricular, topic-based learning, the curriculum seeks to equip the children with the skills and knowledge to be successful adults in the future. There are daily lessons in Maths, English and Reading alongside weekly carousel activities that include Science, PE, Art, Computing, Topic, Cooking, Drama, PSHE, SEMH, Music and Personal Development. The school understands the importance of emotional and social literacy in developing a child's character. For this reason, the school follows a Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) scheme of work developed by a team of therapists that seeks to empower children to take responsibility for their own mental health. The Personal Development lessons educate children on relevant topics such as gender inequality, careers aspirations, human rights and social injustice. The schools main goal is to inspire children to develop a love of learning, the self-belief to take risks and the confidence to achieve anything they set their mind to.

Students are taught the National Curriculum as appropriate to their age and ability in small classes of up to 9 pupils with 1 teacher and at least 1 teaching assistant. The successful Teaching Assistant will be moving from class to class to provide support to a variety of ages and abilities. The main responsibility of this highly rewarding role is to support the class teacher in all lessons with the educational and social needs of pupils, assisting in the organisation of class activities, helping to manage class or individual behaviour and performing 1:1 and group work with students to keep them engaged and making progress.

Essential requirements:

Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and or SEMH, social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
Previous TA, LSA or support work within a school, PRU, Alternative Provision or other child related experience.
