Job Purpose and Mission

Contributes to Starbucks success by effectively developing and leading complex sourcing strategies. Effectively manages suppliers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance for the spend in a specific product category. Consistently delivers measurable and strategic goals to enable bottom-line and top-line company growth and corporate social responsibility leadership. Collaborates effectively internally and with suppliers and develops effective negotiation strategies to enable success.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
1 Sourcing Strategy
- You will share the Packaging category with another Sourcing Manager
- Employ strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors and market dynamics in Packaging
- Effectively develop and lead complex sourcing strategies, effectively manage suppliers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance for the relevant spend area balancing profitability, sustainability, capability and lead time
- Consistently deliver measurable and strategic goals to enable bottom-line and top-line company growth, and sustainability initiatives
- Develop effective negotiation strategies to enable success
- Drive development of all related packaging products and support sustainability initiatives.
- With a lense to sustainability, you'll bring strong knowledge of the packaging industry and marketplace to support strategy creation and. research.
- You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining key relationships with both internal partners & external suppliers to achieve our goals in packaging.

2 Supplier Engagement and Management:
- Leverage effective business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players
- Professionally manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement
- Define supplier management strategy, and executing strategic supplier relationship management
- Maintain a trusted oversight of your category in order to identify and effectively mitigate key supply chain risks
- Identify supplier risk areas and quantifying risk exposure within the category and execute risk mitigate actions
- Communicate regularly with senior stakeholders to create and implement engagement plans for change
3 Cross-Functional Projects:
- Proficiently advanced employ program and project management tools and techniques
- Independently solve problems and make decisions for primary and strategic execution and tactical issues within the relevant portfolio of projects and or processes
- Provide day to day oversight and perform a hands-on execution role
- Participate in and actively lead cross functional teams to successfully execute complex sourcing and commercial projects in support of the defined category plans / strategy
4 Leadership and Teamwork:
- Effectively motivate and collaborate within their team and across their peer group
- Lead using demonstrated and proven experience and the application of best practice procurement skills
- Effectively manage Senior / Sourcing Analysts, provide support, coaching and direction to help them achieve their objectives and develop as individuals.
- Maintain the Senior / Sourcing Analyst's knowledge ensuring they are able to provide new insight and perspectives- operating as a source of insight and solutions
- Work within peer group and leadership infrastructure to ensure that best practice and leverage opportunities are delivered
- May collaborate with Group procurement manager and or director of procurement
- Evaluate sourcing procedures and presenting improvement strategies to senior management for approval.Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Must haves:
  • Solid sourcing/procurement experience,
  • Indirect and or direct packaging categories experience,
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of executing and managing of sourcing category strategies in packaging to achieve positive results
  • Knowledge of supplier relationship management, 'should-cost' models, supplier continuous improvement programs and Lean initiatives
  • Strong and effective decision-making capacity
  • Effective at interpreting complex and multiple sources of information to make decisions
  • Improves processes to eliminate non-value adding activities
  • Highly effective collaboration skills
  • Effective at influencing others, including. executive management
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Good knowledge of procurement best practices
  • Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices
  • Knowledge of business ethics
  • Ability to influence at an Executive Level both internally and externally
  • Ability to lead and influence peer groups both internally and externally
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
  • Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Oracle, BI Apps or similar ERP/Reporting tools
