Senior Fire Engineer and Associate Director
South Yorkshire, DN1
£65,000 to £80,000 plus package
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and appropriately qualified Senior Fire Engineer at Associate Director Level to join our rapidly expanding client on a full-time basis.
Our client is a multi-faceted fire safety consultancy, comprising Engineering and Service divisions providing a full fire consultancy package to a vast range of clients in different sectors. As a BAFE SP205 certified company, the client maintains the highest standards of competency and customer service possible.
The right candidate, once proven, can look forward to a full directorship with an offer of shares in the company and an increased performance-based pay structure.
The role will comprise working alongside developers, contractors and architects in developing fire safety strategies that deliver design solutions which meet the clients' aspirations and satisfy the functional requirements on fire safety in buildings.
The work will involve using BS 9999 and BS 9991 as well as Approved Document Part B and, therefore, a thorough understanding and working knowledge of these codes is fundamental to the work. The ideal candidate will also need to demonstrate they have a good understanding of fire safety engineering using BS 7974 and other relevant guides to bring alternative solutions to schemes which are outside existing guidance. Ideally, they will also have specialist skills in designing for smoke movement and CFD analysis, or, be experienced in this area.
The role will involve reviewing architectural drawings and working with the architect in delivering solutions that satisfy the functional requirements on fire safety. You will be expected to prepare fire safety strategy reports and review these with the client and the Approving Authorities. Excellent written and communication skills are therefore essential to the role.
The ideal candidate will be expected to attend client meetings and carry out site inspections to check that fire safety measures have been adequately installed (but not to sign-off) and, therefore, a good appreciation of the various types of fire safety products (including passive fire protection) and how they are installed is important.
Part of the role will be driving the business forward in developing new contacts and expanding the client base. The ideal candidate will input into the future planning of the business including recruitment and benefit from doing so. Based in Doncaster, our client operates nationwide but home working will be acceptable, however you will be required to attend the Doncaster office two days per week.
