Job Title: Attendance Manager
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.
Salary: H8 point 25 - FTE salary - £29,577
Disclosure Level: Enhanced

Main Purpose:
To work closely with students, parents/carers, Academy staff and external agencies to improve and maintain Academy attendance levels.

Line Managed by: Assistant Principal

Main Duties and Areas of Responsibility:
• Maintain the Academy's attendance system and data, producing reports and documentation as required, including the identification of learners who are not attending as expected
• Liaise effectively with students, their families, outside agencies and appropriate staff to promote punctuality / good attendance and co-ordinate appropriate interventions
• Use appropriate skills to undertake joint behavioural work with internal/external colleagues in order to achieve positive early intervention outcomes
• Undertake day to day case work so as to improve levels of Academy attendance, and to ensure parents/carers are aware of their legal responsibilities to secure regular attendance at the Academy
• Develop positive relationships with parents/carers to encourage family involvement in their children's attendance to avoid fixed penalty notices or legal action
• Co-ordinate the work of local authority Attendance Improvement Officer (AIO), to support those students and their families with poor attendance, and to implement the fixed penalty notice scheme and related legal implications
• Working with other staff, develop and implement attendance improvement plans and prepare AIO referrals for the administration of fixed penalties and potential legal action
• Maintain regular and accurate casework notes, monitoring and record interventions and prepare reports as required. Lead, attend and contribute to attendance meetings concerning individual students as appropriate
• Support the administration process for Admissions as required
• Contribute to the work of the Student Support Team if and as required
General and Academy Responsibilities:
• To support the schools commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare at a level appropriate to this role;
• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person;
• Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the school;
• Participate in training, other learning activities and performance development as required;
• Attend and participate in meetings as required;
• Any other duties commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the post;
• All staff in school will be expected to accept reasonable flexibility in working arrangements and the allocation of duties, including playground and lunchtime supervision
