An award winning , top 20 Apprenticeship provider my client is looking to hire a Managing Director.
Whilst predominately home based you will need to be South East based as there is an expecation to be able to commute easily to the offices in Maidstone.
As the Managing Director you will ultimately be accountable for all aspects of the company's business success, by ensuring that learner starts, and profit targets are achieved whilst maintaining full compliance with ESFA and Ofsted regulations. You will drive the company's 'Remarkable' Culture ensuring a remarkable experience for staff, learners and employers.
The role will require you to drive continued growth to achieve our challenging profit targets whilst at the same time maintaining quality delivery and developing the team. You will need to work in line with the needs of the Childcare sector, regional LEP skills gaps and regeneration schemes, and be required to horizon scan to ensure the company operates proactively within the education sector and funding arena.
You will need to be a strong leader who can motivate a swiftly expanding team and be responsible for building a group of motivated training specialists nationally. You will be responsible for transforming them into a high-performing team with a 'can-do' attitude. We are looking for a leader that believes in developing their people and holding a "high accountability, no excuses management style" to ensure results are achieved.
Working in the public funding sector, you will understand the criticality of both quality, funding compliance and financial assurance regulations and you would have developed and installed rigorous systems and processes in former roles that support sustainability within the sector.
You must have experience within the vocational training sector at a senior leadership level and have been successfully involved in a recent Ofsted inspection and a recent ESFA compliance audit. Ideally, you will come from within the Further Education and Apprenticeship delivery focused provision within an Independent Training Provider or Further Education College.
You should be used to being held to account by a Governing board, but most importantly, you need to demonstrably care about your people.
Business Development and Strategic Planning
Develop and execute the company's strategies to attain the goals and objectives of the board and shareholders.
Provide strategic feedback and advice to the Governing Board and Chairman so that they have an accurate view of the market, the company's performance and the companies future.
Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
Create initiatives to take advantage of market opportunities, reduce operational threats, forestall business risks, and maximises core strengths
Act as the public face of the company in ways that strengthen the company's profile
Assess long term development needs and ensure resources are available that ensure business delivery of high-quality service levels in the face of increasing customer expectations.
Ensure processes throughout the business are robust and that all staff adopt a "right first-time approach".

Build your team of leaders to deliver against the company's goals
Ensure company policies around compliance are communicated from the top down and that they are always followed
Delegate responsibilities and provide leadership to the executives by setting context, providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
Establish and maintain effective managerial practices in order to build an engaged and high-performing executive team
Develop a culture of trust and achieve outcomes against plan
Build strong relationships and contact with clients, potential clients & policy influencers
Engage with your team on a continuous basis, ensuring every team member understands and is held to account for the delivery of the company's vision, goals and targets.
Promote and champion safeguarding, Prevent, health, safety, well-being, equality and diversity within the organisation.
Financial and Risk Management
Oversee the company's financial performance ensuring financial goals are achieved and that results are reported within 7 days of month end.
Profile learner enrolment against retention, achievement and success. Capitalise on learner progression and destination whilst promoting life long learning.
Ensure any variance against plan are adequately explained and clear action plans are installed to address any deficits
Manage capacity so that we achieve financial results against plans and budgets
Put in place an effective operational planning and control environment for financial and service delivery
Review and evaluate the processes designed to ensure regulatory compliance and manage risk in all aspects of the business
Ensure full compliance with Ofsted and ESFA regulations
Analyse problematic situations and provide solutions to ensure positive outcomes
Learner and Employer Delivery
Ensure the best possible learner experience and outcomes as demonstrated within sector relevant KPI's.
Drive retention and TCR rates ensuring that your minimum targets are always exceeded.
Provide high quality employer and learner engagement encompassing all aspects of the end-to-end learner journey
Enhance the reputation of the company at all times, in terms of both day to day internal interactions with all levels of staff and students, and external contacts.
Work creatively to promote and enhance the work of the organisation across all team
Interactions with all relevant stakeholders, including education and training providers and their representative groups, departments and agencies, awarding bodies, EPAO's, colleges and other organisations to horizon scan in readiness for the emerging trends within the FE White Papers and Government policies.
To support collective leadership, knowledge sharing and relationship building across the organisation and the Further Education sector on behalf of the company
To provide Executive level recommendations based on data and aligned analysis within the Context of UK Government priorities, aligned to national and global economic challenges.
Proven experience as Managing Director or other senior leadership position
Excellent business acumen with a professional and positive attitude
Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the company
Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance
Strong business development sense and goal-oriented
Familiarity with corporate law and management best practices
Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
