Commercial Strategy Manager
Wickford, Essex
Salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum DOE

Last year the company achieved sales of c£30 million across retail, wholesale and web-based sales. This year will be well over double that, and with a roadmap to become a household name, this role will be integral in achieving this.

The Role

General overview

This is a new role within White Stores and will be integral in delivering future growth by helping develop both short term and long term company strategy. Sitting within the Insights & Data team, you will work closely with the Commercial Director in running strategy projects and pulling together strategy project briefs.

You will work closely with the different business functions from the initial consultation stage through to implementation and execution. You will utilise all available insight and data to ensure strategic recommendations are based upon robust logic and commercial rationale.

Specific responsibilities will include:

- Supporting the Commercial Director in the production of all business strategy
- Working on specific high impact consultation and strategy projects, producing detailed project briefs and supporting documentation
- Liaising closely with the specific business function head and/or heads for that project
- Helping run the end-to-end planning to execution process, managing expectations with all stakeholders and ensuring buy in and delivery is to schedule
- Finding the insight and data that matters - working with the wider Insights & Data team to understand the relevant existing data but also to identify the data and insight gaps
- Building strong relationships and working closely with the CTO and IT department heads
- Supporting and presenting strategy documents up to board level
- Continually looking to identify areas of improvement

Candidate profile

The Insights & Data team is based in Wickford, Essex and is a crucial function within the wider White Stores team. While some flexibility is expected, we anticipate the role being
office based at least two to three days per week, so the job holder will need to live within a commutable distance.

We are seeking a strategic minded individual who is commercially astute and has 5-10 years' experience within a similar role. This could be within a corporate environment or a strategy consultancy.

Experience of laying out corporate and commercial strategy is fundamental, ideally within the retail sector. Further advantage will be experience within a fast growth business.

You will be an expert in problem solving and be able to simplify complex problems, to the point where the distractions are removed and the real answer can be seen.

You will be logical and detailed in your process and will need to work all the angles and be creative in your thinking and in the solution.

You will be a great collaborator and experienced in working with and influencing key stakeholders. You will also be a great communicator and be able to deliver detailed and complex ideas in a simple and easy way to understand.

You will be entrepreneurial, commercially savvy, highly analytical, Inquisitive, logical, creative and a clear communicator.
