Following some recent promotions, Fraserburgh Academy is delighted to invite applicants for the Teacher of English post in our thriving English Faculty. This dynamic and creative faculty has taken an active role in working towards our school mission of Together Creating Positive Futures. With diverse opportunities for training and experience, these posts would be a great next step for a newly qualified English Teacher or a Teacher seeking new avenues or development pathways.
As a large school we see many Higher English classes, alongside an Advanced Higher English Class each year. Author visits, theatre trips and competitions are regular features of the faculty calendar, and only this week our seniors enjoyed their virtual Write-Fest.
The faculty is exploring the use of Google Classroom as their main platform for digital learning, and training can be provided on this. Our English Faculty works closely with the local cluster of Primary schools, with a dedicated staff member making frequent visits to the Primary Schools, improving literacy and analysis skills and forging a stronger partnership in the cluster. Film and Media analysis is located on an equal footing with poetry, prose and non fiction analysis, and applicants with expertise in these fields would be more than welcome.
The entire school follows a Positive Ethos policy where we expect learners and staff to be Ready, Respectful and Safe, and applicants with an understanding or a desire to understand the Pivotal approach to positive ethos would be welcomed to apply.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
