The supermarket Group has recently been acquired by a wholesale company so it's an incredible exciting time to join in this new venture. You will be joining a group with an annual turnover to almost £3 billion, alongside a symbol, franchise, and company store retail estate of more than 3,795 stores in the UK, (including 2,682 fascia and 195 company owned).

Both retailers and suppliers are supported by this new additional scale of the combined business, with the collaborative partnership approach making the partner of choice for growing sales in the convenience market.


Description and Main Purpose of Job:

The Media & Digital Activation Manager is primarily responsible for the creation and delivery of or Convenience media and activation strategy.

This role is part of the Marketing team and involves considerable amounts of stakeholder engagement, working with various internal teams and agencies to deliver the media and activation strategy.

Job Purpose

To create and refresh Costcutters media strategy ensuring it meets key business objectives, such as driving sales and generating income
To create an annual package of supplier opportunities
To activate the promotional calendar of supplier-funded media
To provide accessible market, consumer and retailer insights re media to senior management, to inform and guide strategic and tactical decision making

Agencies and Marketing suppliersMain Duties and Responsibilities:

Media Strategy & Activation

Create the shopper media strategy for the Convenience Marketing function (ensuring it meets key business objectives) and activate this through media, working with Trading to provide an offer that can secure supplier income
Create a of suite of annual and supplier investment opportunities that can meet supplier income targets, presented through engaging promotional collateral such as videos and presentations
Generate incremental income by creating additional ad-hoc supplier opportunities
Manage programmes of work to deliver the group's media strategy and outcomes via Tracker Management, including eCommerce activation via 'content ordering'
Ensure activation by acting as the primary link within marketing between Promotions and Graphic Design and Communications teams
Demonstrate return-on-investment to suppliers
Oversee the Media budget, establishing sound budget management, tracking on media return on investment and maximising value-for-money
Support Trading by interfacing with suppliers in meetings as well as at events such as the Group's annual supplier conference
Note, activation across printed collateral (such as Leaflets and Connect) is out of scope for this rolePeople & Process

Experience and Skills

Experience in media, as well as appreciation of digital marketing and social media management
Strong interpersonal skills: you need to be approachable, friendly and empathetic, and able to relate to people on different levels with the business (from Directors down), our retailers and customers
Business acumen: you need to be able to understand the business, its priorities and measures of success to create a commercially aligned strategies and delivery programmes
Excellent Presentation skills: From communicating ideas to the business to presenting stories to retailers, you need to organise information in a succinct and interesting way to capture their attention
English language fluency: You need to have excellent written and spoken English
A creative thinker and problem solver with commercial acumen and a clear vision for delivering excellent communications
Influencing: Excellent engagement and influencing skills at all levels, able to challenge constructively to safeguard outcomes
Organised: excellent organisational skills, flexible, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising workload in a reactive pressurised environment
