About the role:
You'll play a key role maintaining a high media profile, raising public awareness and knowledge of Parkinson's, promoting Parkinson's UK and the work we do. You will have responsibility for developing a team of talented and enthusiastic press officers. Leading by example, you'll empower them to deliver bold and creative media coverage.
You'll be a first point of contact for many of our colleagues across the organisation, spotting newsworthy opportunities and helping to make them happen.
What you'll do:
Support the development, implementation and evaluation of proactive and reactive media relations strategies across the charity's portfolio of activities
Lead by example, delivering bold and creative media coverage across national, regional, online and consumer media using case studies and celebrities as appropriate
Work with colleagues across the charity to ensure that a wide range of spokespeople are prepared and trained for planned and reactive media interviews
Manage and develop the team of press officers, providing the guidance, expertise and opportunities to maximise their skills
What you'll bring:
Significant experience of planning, delivering and evaluating successful media campaigns, ensuring that they run to time, to budget and can demonstrate their impact
Experience of managing colleagues both within your team and the wider organisation to deliver the best possible results Outstanding written and verbal communication skills enabling you to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders
Working knowledge of running a press office
Ability to prioritise your own workload and support others to do the same to meet their own deadlines
