Assistant Management Accountant
The Investments Division is looking to recruit a Management Accountant to report to the Finance Manager responsible for a suite of projects.
The main purpose of the role is to provide a high level of financial support across the projects including preparation of management accounts, budgets, cash forecasts, invoicing and payments. The Management Accountant will support the Finance Manager in all day-to-day reporting. The Management Accountant will also interact regularly with members of the project teams.
As Management Accountant you will be responsible for:
* Preparing management accounts and all P&L and balance sheet reconciliations, including analysing variances to budget
* Managing purchase invoicing and payment runs
* Raising and managing sales invoices including cross checking to contracts where applicable
* Processing VAT and other statutory returns
* Processing and reconciling all additional recharges and transactions
* Maintaining reconciliations including bank reconciliations
* Providing detailed support on audit queries, taking responsibility for routine items
* Providing support on financial modelling
Key Outputs
The key output of the role is accurate and reliable financial information produced within the agreed timetables. This includes:
* Monthly or quarterly management accounts
* Monthly invoicing and payment
* Monthly reconciliations
* Annual budgets
* Maintenance of high quality ledgers and underlying data to allow all information to be provided quickly and accurately
Competency Requirements
* You should have the ability to work independently and autonomously but also know when to raise issues and seek support
* You should be able to take responsibility for their own work and be proactive at all times
* Attention to detail is critical, along with a strong ethical desire to do the right thing
* You should be able to deal with confidential information sensitively and appropriately
* Good communication and interpersonal skills are required as this role will require interaction with Project Directors and other stakeholders.
Technical/Professional Experience and Qualifications
* You should ideally be a part qualified accountant or a newly qualified accountant, or an accountant who is suitably qualified by experience
* You should have prior experience of preparing management accounts within a finance function or department and have the ability to analyse financial results against budget
* Proficiency in Excel is essential along with experience in using accounting software packages. (Sage experience is desired but not essential)
