Painting & Decorating Technician

College location: East Surrey College (Redhill)

Salary: Circa £21,000 (Subject to qualifications, skills and experience)

Hours: Full time (37 hours/week)

We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Painting & Decorating Technician to join our Construction department.

This post would suit an individual who has achieved their own Painting & Decorating qualifications or who has a background in Painting & Decorating themselves and understands the basic principles. Candidates will be enthusiastic, self-motivated with excellent communication skills, and with a committed approach to your work you will maintain a high quality learning environment for our learners.

Based in the Construction area of our Technology department this exciting post will involve; supporting students in their learning of practical skills in the Painting & Decorating workshops, liaising with College tutors to understand their requirements and being accountable for ensuring workshops are prepared before the start of lessons, and maintaining a high standard in the workshop at all times. You will be expected to carry out Health and Safety assessments and reviews, and to be responsible for ordering stock, maintaining a stock of consumables in line with annual budget and preparing materials for student activities as well as the cleaning and maintenance of the equipment.

The successful candidate must have:

* A vocational qualification in Painting & Decorating at Level 2(though level 3 would be ideal)

* Knowledge/experience working within the Painting & Decorating industry

* Experience of working with young people

* An understanding of Health and Safety requirements

* Good organisational skills and ability to work with people in an ever changing environment.

* A full First Aid Qualification (or willing to obtain one)

Experience of holding an Assessor qualification and having knowledge of stock control would be highly advantageous
