Randstad Engineering are recruiting for a principal mechanical design engineer to work on a permanent basis for a client based in Northampton.

The client designs and manufactures a range of bespoke products for a variety of industry sectors. You will benefit strongly if you have a background in Aerospace, Defence, Electronics or Telecommunications.

The role in brief:

To take a lead role in product development. This role is predominantly a design-based role.
The following key responsibilities and skills will be required.
3D Modelling (Solid Edge).
Mechanical Design.
Conceptual design of products.
Production of design documentation and review of design documentation produced by others.
Monitor and evaluate novel materials and the latest technologies.

The successful candidate will have experience with:

Working in the Electrical and Electronic, Defence, Aerospace, Broadcast or
Telecommunications sectors.
Knowledge of wiring, cable harnesses and wiring diagrams.
Stress Analysis.
Thermal awareness and analysis (modelling desirable)
Ergonomics/Human Factors
Full product lifecycle knowledge and experience.
EMC
Design for Environmental Conditions (DO160 and MIL-STD-810)
