SEN- SEMH- English Teacher- Long term supply- Medway- September 2021

Your new company
A small and busy Special School in Medway are looking for an English Teacher to support pupil development. This position is a full time, long term position and is to begin in September. It is initially confirmed up until December but likely to continue. This school has capacity for 50 students with up to 11 students within each class. The school specialises in supporting students with EHCP and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) as their primary need.

Your new role
You will be teaching English to pupils with challenging behaviour. It is therefore imperative that you are confident and have a strong character. Impairment levels of the pupils vary, it will therefore be important that you are able to develop rapport with pupils and an understanding of their individual needs. You will feedback to the Leadership team and parents on pupil progress. You will need to be able to plan and deliver English/Literacy up to and including GCSE. Interviews for this role are due to take place as soon as possible.

What you'll need to succeed
Qualified Teacher Status
First hand understanding and experience of working with pupils in a similar environment
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to effectively guide and direct pupil behaviour
Leadership qualities, which will be important for directing the Teaching Assistant
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - this will be important for building rapport with pupils, as well as staff members and parents
The ability to monitor pupil development and offer suggestions and feedback
Excellent planning and preparation skills
