Senior PHP Developer / Software Architect (Linux)

£55,000 - £65,000 + benefits

Interaction IT are proud to be partnering with a leading retail / wholesale business in the heart of South Yorkshire.

As part of my clients continued success and growth, they now have immediate requirements for a software architect with solid understanding of PHP development and DevOps principles.

The business is located within close commute of the M1 and M62 links together with free on-site parking and flexible working arrangements.

The role

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be providing senior technical expertise for the business. This will include configuring and managing both Linux and Windows based systems, together with staff management of a small development / engineering team.

As a lead member of the team you will also take control of the infrastructure and networking capability of the business to roadmap, design and integrate the entire IT system including ERP deployment and assist with virtualisation and cloud-based solutions.

Due to the fact this is a new site and infrastructure build, there will be some additional out of hours working during the interim period, to ensure a robust and stabilised system is implemented, on time and within agreed timescales.

Key responsibilities:

· At least 5+ years of commercial experience in similar senior technical discipline, managing and assuming technical ownership of the technology portfolio and IT roadmap

· Strong understanding of PHP / Laravel development including systems architecture and systems development (DevOps)

· Proven ability to manage Linux systems (Debian 9/10) and a good understanding of writing PowerShell scripts

· Management and maintenance of containerised and virtualised server estate based on both Linux and Windows architecture.

· Infrastructure (cloud) systems are configured and maintained for disaster recovery

· Project Management of all inhouse development projects

· Ensuring all business documentation is well maintained, accurate and clearly communicated

· Experience of containerisation, specifically docker

· Good understanding of network essentials and virtualisation systems

Desirable:

· Knowledge of ERP systems including Warehouse Management Solutions within a retail or FMCG environment

· Knowledge of database technologies, especially MySQL including replication

· Understanding of broader e-commerce platforms (design and implementation)

· Third-party APIs
