Job Details

A position has arisen for a Financial Aid Accountant to work for a higher Education Institution based in London. The University is looking for a senior accountant who has experience working in a student facing / customer-facing role. The position would be for an initial period of 3 months, starting remotely but we will be slowly moving back to on-site (or fully on-site if they prefer).

The post is to manage the Financial Aid Office who are responsible for the delivery of student facing financial support services including the drawdown of student loan funding directly to the student.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Managing a small student facing team (4 staff in total)
  • Updating / maintaining financial shortfall calculators to assess student's financial position for a number of hardship funds
  • Assessing student's eligibility for financial support
  • Overseeing overseas fee appeals and other hardship appeals
  • Managing hardship budgets and completing year-end reconciliations
  • Completing financial returns to the Office for Students
  • Dealing with complex student enquiries / complaints

The successful candidate MUST have:
  • CCAB professional qualification with an accountancy body (e.g. ICAEW, CIPFA, ACCA)
  • Experience of working in a Higher Education environment
  • Experience and understanding of the structure and nature of student finances and student financial services
  • Experience with Unit 4 Business World financial suite and reporting tools (Desirable)
