Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Advisory Teacher of the Deaf to work with Liverpool City Council. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and involves working 13 hours per week. The hourly rate is £33.12.
To support deaf children and young people in a range of educational settings. Providing support and advice to deaf children & young people & their families. Ensure deaf pupils have equal access to broad & balanced curriculum.
Support parents to understand the implications of their child's hearing loss and how to promote language development.
Ensure parents/carers are aware of other agencies and how these can be accessed.
Provide advice about the educational placement of their child.
Liaise with parents/carers following school visits as appropriate.
Supporting schools in developing a welcoming ethos in accordance with LA policy on inclusion.
Prepare a school for the successful inclusion of a deaf pupil.
Provision of INSET for all staff.
Negotiation with head teacher regarding appropriate package of support for child.
1 to 1 teaching to pre or post tutor the curriculum, deliver language programmes.
Allocation and management of learning support assistant.
Devise and oversee implementation of sensory support plan.
Fit and maintain FM systems for pupils on caseload.
Assessment of pupil's receptive & expressive skills. Keep record of progress.
Consult with school staff to maximise visual/auditory environment.
Ensure parents/carers play a key role in any decisions made about their child's education & progress.
Write advices for statement of SEN.
Qualifications: University Degree at grade 2:2 or above.
Experience: 1+ year of post-graduate experience within a similar role.
Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. QTS gained from an ITT programme.
Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
Hours: 13 hours p/w.
