About the role
We're looking for a Senior Naval Architect Floating Assets Group of the Facility Engineering Technical Authority to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
The group is responsible for providing engineering technical advice and undertaking design activity on floating assets and waterfront facilities throughout the dockyard.
You will provide technical support to the management of floating assets and associated facilities throughout the product lifecycle. Providing specifications to support new acquisitions and refits, undertaking inspections and overseeing maintenance, repair and modifications. Maintaining records and ensuring assets are suitable for use and supporting the development of technical solutions for future. Provide technical support to waterfront operations, including vessel berthing and movements and check and review technical reports. To ensure administration of tasks and costs are appropriately recorded in accordance with Corporate Procedures. You will also be required to check and sign off documentation.
What do I need to do the role?
*Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice with specification, planning project management and budgeting experience. Preferably experience with long term asset management.
*Sound understanding of company and departmental procedures relating to health and Safety, Design and quality.
*You must have a relevant engineering qualification, ideally a degree and be eligible to achieve Chartered Engineer after an approved period of responsibility and training.
What else do I need to know?
*The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
