Tradewind are recruiting for a caring and nurturing 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a special needs primary school in Tower Hamlets!

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special needs?

About the role:

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant a special needs primary school in Tower Hamlets.

Start date - September until the end of the academic year. Full time and long term with the potential to turn in to a permanent contract.

Pay up to £80 per day.

Supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis in Year 3 with Autism. The pupil is non-verbal and staff use PECS to aid communication. Work in conjunction with Speech & Language Therapist to provide holistic support and education. You must have previous experience supporting young people with Autism.

Ideally you will have prior experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, Primary Teaching Assistant or Support Worker with primary aged pupils. You will need resilience and patience and be able to adapt your approach to meet their needs, interests and emotions.

About the pupils:

Pupils will need support managing emotions, processing and understanding work and interaction with peers. Some need support with language and speech as she is working at lower than expected levels. Pupils are both verbal or non-verbal so some will need support with Speech & Language and often use PECS or Makaton to communicate.

Staff promote independence, enthusiasm for learning, confidence and courage in their pupils and this is the basis on which pupils are able to achieve.
