Maintenance Manager - Food Manufacturing - Fixed term contract

Location: Derbyshire

Salary: £50-65,000 pro rata (6-9 month contract)

We are seeking an exceptional Maintenance Manager to join the team at our Client's large food manufacturing facility in Derbyshire for a minimum of 3-6 months.. This is a days based role Monday to Friday

The role:

To specify, cost and manage small to medium revenue projects.

To plan, organise and control providers of external engineering support where skills do not exist internally.

To be suitably competent and to act as authorised deputy for Site Engineering Issues during the absence of a site Engineering Manager.

To manage the computerised maintenance management systems

To be responsible for all aspects of engineering within your allocated factory.

To ensure 24/7 cover is provided and managed ensuring the availability and effective performance of all site plant and equipment.

To ensure all equipment, services, utilities and plant operate and meet productive legal and legislative requirements.

To ensure all safe systems and procedures are adhered to at all times and that any activity that is carried out is done safely and does not compromise the safety of others.

Maintain building fabric and infrastructure to comply with relevant Technical standards.

Project Management

The individual demonstrates the ability to design, specify, cost and produce authorisation requests for small to medium projects.

The individual demonstrates the ability to plan and coordinate the necessary internal and external resources for small to medium projects.

The individual monitors and controls costs associated with small to medium projects.

Preventative Planning

The individual demonstrates planning and prioritisation of resources for reactive (breakdown cover), proactive (planned maintenance) and planned (project) work dependant on various internal priorities principally indicated by the Engineering Manager or Factory Manager.

The individual is capable of completing all relevant paper and electronic forms relating to the operation of the shift (attendance, breakdown reports, holiday requests, utility reports, PPM etc)

The individual is competent in the use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System and uses the system to produce the required maintenance schedules and relevant reports.

The individual demonstrates the ability to produce the relevant Risk Assessments, Work Permits, Operating Procedures for equipment being maintained / installed.

The individual is able to produce written reports which highlight work completed and any outstanding issues to be resolved.

The individual attends a regular weekly and monthly engineering meeting with other Maintenance Managers to discuss engineering-related issues.

Management / Leadership

When acting as deputy, standards of performance are met when:-

The individual demonstrates leadership of their team.

The individual is able to delegate work to the appropriately skilled engineers within their team.

The individual ensures that all work is carried out safely and that the relevant protective/control measures are undertaken.

The individual ensures the workplace, workshop, stock facilities are maintained to a high standard of hygiene.

The individual manages and controls external suppliers/contractors.

The individual sets an exemplary example of work behaviour.

The individual utilises and applies the disciplinary procedures in line with company policy as and when required.

Communication

The individual demonstrates effective communication (both written and verbal) with their team, the Engineering, Factory and General Manager, and most importantly, with other internal departments.

The individual attends meetings and is able to communicate within these forums accordingly

Flexibility & Commitment

The individual works the necessary hours to fulfil the requirements of the role.

Personal development is undertaken as required.

To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.

To gain a full understanding of the industry.

Contribute to that department/ add value by developing requisite skills in this area in line with the competency framework.

The person:

Degree or HND educated

Previous management experience within a large scale Factory environment. Ideally food or beverages manufacturing

Must have an electrical bias

Experience of SCADA and robotics highly desirable

Experience of working in an environment that works at pace and with agility

Previous experience of managing Engineering teams

A relevant qualification in an engineering discipline

Possess a proven ability to build, mentor, motivate and lead teams through periods of technological and cultural change.

Have a detailed engineering knowledge of modern continuous, food production processes.

Good working knowledge of associated disciplines including Project Management, Health and Safety and Food safety.

Familiar with modern maintenance and manufacturing methodologies.

Excellent communication skills at all levels.

Robust and flexible approach

High degree of IT literacy

IOSH or NEBOSH qualification

Operationally focused on delivering results

Financially competent and experienced in the preparation and monitoring of budgets
