There is an exciting opportunity within the Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership Occupational Therapy Service for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work in a team which is expanding to meet the needs of patients admitted to Ninewells Hospital's Major Trauma Centre and Orthopaedic Trauma wards. We are looking for a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills to join us as we continue to expand and develop our Occupational Therapy team to include high quality service provision to this patient group over 7 days. Based across the hospital and community settings, this post provides the potential to enhance your knowledge and skills working with patients admitted into the Major Trauma Centre and Orthopaedic wards, to act independently to provide a full comprehensive specialist service by delivering OT interventions to patients and maximising their functional potential. There will be opportunities to follow patient care through to the community settings to ensure high quality seamless care. Additional funding has been secured to expand the Occupational Therapy service provision to meet the nationally agreed standards of care in Major Trauma from acute admission and rehabilitation through to return to community living.

We are looking for an individual who will provide specialised Occupational Therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment, outreach, discharge planning and onward referral of own patient caseload, facilitating high quality treatment with the interdisciplinary team working in partnership with all agencies providing care and support for this patient group. You will be expected to work as part of the multidisciplinary team in ensuring effective delivery of patient care and be able to successfully work together with colleagues in the acute hospital setting and beyond with onward referral and discharge to a complex range of patients to our community based colleagues to ensure that there is a seamless approach to practice. This is an ideal position for a Band 5 with relevant clinical experience or a Band 6 wishing to continue their clinical development. Leadership and mentoring skills will be developed as this post provides supervision and support for junior staff. As a band 6 OT, you will assist in the development of the service within your team as well as supporting change and development within the wider OT department.

This post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7 days service/rota to enable the service to be ready to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.
