We are looking for an experienced Masters/PHD educated Data Scientist to work with a large CPG company on a POC piece of work (4-6 weeks), which will lead into a very long contract if successful.

This will be outside ir35, rates around £700 - £900 per day (depending on experience)

All work will be remote.

Data Scientist: Advanced Price Elasticity for Trade Promotions


Development of data driven models for pricing and price elasticity at granular level such and SKU, SKU-customer combinations. Using Data to Improve Pricing Performance, promotion effectiveness and true estimates of price elasticities. Work requires of explainable model building which improves log-log regression models for price elasticity estimates.


Masters/PhD: in Economics/ Computer science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Operations Research Professional (Relevant) experience: Education Master: 6-12 years/ PhD: 3-8 years

Key Focus skill:

Market Mix Model, Marketing Return on Investment Model, Campaign Response Model, Pre-During-Post Campaign Analysis, Promotion and Price strategy, Pricing Optimization models, Fix effect Regressions models, simultaneous equation model in econometrics


CPG: Promotions, price

Technical Skills:
  • Advanced regression and econometric models for pricing
  • Machine learning for timeseries
  • Statistical modelling
  • Enterprise scale data processing
  • Pricing and revenue management
  • Python coding
  • Data science platform tools e.g. MS Azure, Databricks
  • Collaborative development using Git repos

Computational Skills:
  • Experience with opensource languages (eg. Python) and preferably with distributed computing (PySpark)
  • Experience in deploying solutions in a modern cloud-based architecture (e.g. Azure)
  • Key accountabilities:
  • Research & Development of state of art models for time series forecasting with focus on CPG, e- commerce
  • Apply comprehensive data science knowledge to propose optimal techniques for key business challenges
  • Create detailed data science proposals and project plans, flagging any limitations of proposed solution
  • Design and prototype experimental solutions, particularly machine learning models
  • Design scaled solutions and ensure high quality and timely delivery
  • Facilitate industrialisation and ongoing operation of solutions through well organised code, clear
  • documentation, and collaboration with ML Ops resources Domain: CPG, Product Promotions Price, Promotion optimisation
