Company DescriptionHome Instead is the world's leading provider of non-medical care and companionship services for older people. With minimum visits of one hour, award winning training and an excellent reputation we are immensely proud of the quality of care we provide. We match our Live In Care CAREGivers to our clients based on mutual interests and hobbies to help build bonds of trust and enables us to provide personalised support.
Job DescriptionWe are in search of a companion for our lovely client who is a former dairy farmer in his 90's in a village near Wedmore in Somerset. Our client is a true gentleman with impeccable manners and is happy conversing with people but equally happy with his own company (and the Cricket on the TV!).
He was widowed some years ago and has 2 of his 4 children in local vicinity to him with his other 2 children only an hour away. All of whom are extremely supportive of the CAREGivers who support their father.
Our client uses a zimmer frame to walk around his house and garden, requires some assistance with getting washed and dressed in the morning. He has a catheter which the CAREGivers support him with the management of (full training will be provided if required).
Our client is a true to his Somerset routes; enjoying watching Cricket and having half a glass of cider with his lunch. He and his late wife were both avid Cricket players so it is a great passion of his, along with watching Rugby.
CAREGivers would need to be able to support our client with his meals by preparing his 3 meals a day and providing drinks throughout the day. Due to our clients mobility and the use of a zimmer frame he does struggle with the preparation of his meals however he is usually independent with preparing his evening meal which is usually some cheese and biscuits and cold cut meats.
The right candidate for this lovely gentleman would need to be happy with living in a beautiful country village and be happy with a relaxed way of life with our client. He is not a demanding individual so there will be a lot of downtime for the CAREGiver; it would be suitable for someone who is studying or is looking to study as there is plenty of downtime in which to do so.
There is a good internet connection at the property, with a beautiful garden to enjoy with the client. Supermarket food delivery is arranged on a bi-weekly basis for both the CAREGiver and client.
Due to the rural location someone with their own car is preferable but not essential so long as the individual is comfortable with being in a village with no public transport links.
The pay is £700 a week and is paid on a monthly basis (14th of each month), food is paid for by the client and your travel costs would be covered one way.
A full Induction and accommodation would be provided for the candidate at our Yeovil office where you will also have the opportunity to meet the Home Instead team.
