Currently seeking a highly motivated, talented and experienced Software Development Manager to deliver industry leading IT solutions. The candidate must be someone who really believes in providing excellent customer service. This is an exciting and fantastic opportunity for a Software Development Manager to lead and deliver mission critical software development throughout the business.

You will hold and continue to develop a broad knowledge of the business, its services and supporting software solutions and will work with stakeholders both internal and external to lead the Software Development Team to deliver industry-leading solutions principally using Microsoft .NET and related frameworks and services.

This new role reports to the IT Director and forms a key part of investment in building and enhancing the business' in house software development capabilities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Lead the business's Software Development Team to provide an engaged and highly effective software delivery service.

Work with department heads, stakeholders and subject matter experts across the business to coordinate development activity, ensuring that any resource constraints or dependencies are known and clearly articulated.

Working closely with the Solutions Architect to ensure that software solutions are designed and delivered in line with agreed best practice guidelines and standards. Maintain up to date and relevant coding standards and ensure that all Software Developers work in line with these agreed standards.

Mentor, develop and guide Software Developers and Senior Software Developers as required.

Ensure that all approved development requirements and project activities are delivered to agreed

plans and timescales.

Ensure that existing solutions evolve and change by instilling a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Liaise with other functional areas within the IT department to coordinate activities, resource requirements and dependencies, particularly in relation to cross-functional business change projects.

Identify and communicate risks and opportunities related to the business's software solutions and in the case of risks, determine appropriate mitigations.

Actively participate in project and programme-based activity, including but not limited to:

Project and resource planning

Application design and testing

Documentation production including code documentation

Change management

Provide structured, methodical estimates of resource/work/effort required for projects and software development tasks .

Carry out reviews upon completion of projects and activities, ensuring that lessons learned a re understood and fed back to raise the effectiveness of future activities.

Experience & Knowledge

Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft .NET Framework and related solutions, tools and services.

Pragmatic and logical approach to problem solving.

Exposure to Agile software development methodologies and practices.

Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent communication skills and be professional and credible with technical and non-technical people.

Demonstrable understanding of IT risks and methodologies in relation to software development.

Proven experience of developing, deploying and maintaining secure and reliable software solutions and services.

Effective coordination skills to assist in the management of projects.

Strong team player, able to lead and motivate a team of software developers.

A positive attitude with a problem-solving mindset and a forward-thinking approach.

A willingness to learn whilst recognising the limits of ability, knowing when to ask for and seek advice.
