Sandwell Advocacy is recruiting new Trustees to strengthen their existing Board in line with the current implementation phase of their Business strategy Plan. The charity have been Advocacy have been providing independent advocacy throughout Sandwell since 1993 and were established to support vulnerable individuals who feel that their needs, rights and wishes have not been taken into account when planning and delivering health and social care services.

 As a Trustee you will be involved in the governance of the charity, setting the strategic direction as well as supporting the Project Coordinator who is delegated the management of the organisation. The expectation is that trustees will:

Determine Mission and Strategy –  set the organisation’s direction and determine how it will get there.

Be Accountable – act with integrity, being held to account for the actions of the organisation to maintain public confidence and trust.

Make effective decisions – we should be informed and rigorous, debating the issues effectingthe operation of the organisation.

Manage Risk – monitor systems which identify risks and control the use of assets including finances.

Sandwell Advocacy are keen to hear from anyone who shares their passion and values and feels they could be of benefit to the Board. You do not need previous governance experience – a full induction will be provided. The charity are also particularly interested in applications from people with experience in Human Resources and Fundraising.

The board meet every 6-8 weeks. The board currently meet remotely and remote attendance can be supported going forward.

Sandwell Advocacy recently implemented a new strategic business plan so it is an exciting time to join.
