Make sure we share data safely and legally
To do our job and protect London, we need to share data across the Met and beyond. But sending and disclosing information means meeting a raft of data protection laws. As Data Sharing Manager, you'll see that we comply with relevant legislation so we can collaborate. Play your part in our work - and help keep the capital safe.
Day-to-day, you'll work with officers and staff, giving advice on how to complete documentation that's legally required to share data. You'll keep templates for this documentation and help our team fill them out, checking the final version.
You'll also show staff and officers how to prove that they have complied with Data Protection legislation through auditable means. At the same time, you'll support the Head of Information Law & Security, Head of Information Rights Unit, and Senior Adviser (ISSU) with their daily responsibilities.
Up-to-date knowledge of this specialist area is essential to the role. You should be up to speed on the legal and security implications of data sharing, and the principles of information security. You'll also be familiar with key laws including the Data Protection Act 2018; General Data Protection Regulation; the Human Rights Act 1998; and the Freedom of Information Act 2000. And crucially, you'll know how to apply these laws in practice, and work closely with a wide range of people.
A good communicator who's approachable and team-focused, you'll have the people skills to build relationships and explain information clearly.
In return, we can offer a key role that comes with wide-ranging rewards and benefits. Make sure we're data-compliant. Join us at the Met.
