Join us in this challenging opportunity to provide legal and regulatory advice to Credit Suisse's market leading loan origination franchise in EMEA, and specifically to the Leveraged and Acquisition Finance loan business. This role will be the primary General Counsel coverage lawyer for this business in EMEA and will work closely with product and industry bankers, as well as the firm's loan execution group.

You will evaluate and advise on legal and regulatory risks related to a wide range of secured and unsecured credit facilities, bridge financings, syndicated financings and participations. This will include the critical review of commitment and mandate letters, term sheets, facility agreements, security and intercreditor agreements, credit enhancement products (e.g. letters of credit and liquidity support documents) and legal opinions. You will formulate a best-practice framework including escalation protocols and (where appropriate) review and/or develop template documentation. In conjunction with other General Counsel colleagues monitor global trends and developments in the leverage finance market and anticipate/raise any material impact on the business from a legal and regulatory perspective and advise on appropriate controls. You will coordinate and manage relationships with outside counsel supporting corporate lending transactions. You will collaborate effectively with other Corporate Functions as necessary e.g. Compliance, Reputational Risk, Sustainability, Tax and New Business. You will participate in and contribute to relevant industry working groups and have the opportunity to participate in General Counsel initiatives (including internal projects).

The role of the Investment Banking General Counsel at Credit Suisse is to act as a Trusted Advisor to the business. We play a crucial role in supporting and protecting the Investment Banking division in their transactions and strategic aims. We provide legal and regulatory advice to the banking teams as well as and coordinate with other GC Divisions. Your skills and experience

We are looking for:

English qualified lawyer with significant cross border transactional lending experience with a primary focus on European leveraged finance. Qualifications from other European jurisdictions or the United States will be considered although experience of English law governed loan documents is essential.
Experience gained in a leading City law firm (or equivalent) or in-house with a leading investment or commercial bank or similar.
Results-oriented individual who demonstrates good judgement, ability to learn and outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to assume significant responsibility, including coordination with Credit Suisse's senior management and other members of the General Counsel division.
Excellent technical skills (including drafting and negotiation) and market knowledge. Ability to prioritise competing demands effectively and meet deadlines.
Ability to distil and focus on key legal, regulatory and documentary issues and identify appropriate solutions.
