Main purpose of role

The Health & Research Lead will be a key member of the team at HACT, with responsibility for driving the development and delivery of both HACT's Housing & Health programme and HACT's Research Portfolio. This role will enhance our position as an innovative research organisation in the social housing sector and leading agency for building capability in health and developing/brokering new partnerships between housing and the NHS.

The role blends project design and delivery, business development, client relationship management, and research and evaluation. This post will suit a candidate who is motivated, curious and driven, with the capacity to work independently to ensure project aims and objectives are achieved.

This role will suit someone who is innovative and driven with an interest in social housing and health and how it works with other sectors, the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, local government and how the sectors intersect and the opportunities for greater collaboration and to improve wellbeing, health outcomes and reduce inequalities.

The postholder will:

Be a key point of contact for HACT's Housing & Health Programme and Research Portfolio. The role will involve running events, co-ordinating project activity and managing client relationships, responding to queries, facilitating working groups and networks, providing expert advice, and presenting findings both directly to clients as well as more broadly as part of sector-wide conferences and learning and networking events.
Work extensively with HACT's Chief Executive, Head of Research, and pool of associates to identify new opportunities that contribute to overall business success.
Have autonomy to drive forward their own ideas for research, evaluation, and health projects. This will include working collaboratively to develop ideas for new projects and services, prepare proposals and budgets, coordinate necessary resources and drive the delivery process through to completion.
Maintain HACT's reputation for providing cutting edge ideas and robust, quality tools, resources, and insights.
Contribute to managing ongoing relationships with delivery partners and associates, as well as identifying and developing new partnerships that add value to HACT's work and offer.

Key responsibilities

Identify new products, projects, and services, working with the leadership team and associates to incubate new ideas.
Working closely with the Business Development team, prepare bespoke proposals for clients and stakeholders from social housing and the NHS to meet their research and consultancy needs.
Undertake mixed methods research using a range of methods including desk research, surveys, qualitative interviews and focus groups and quantitative data analysis, ensuring delivery is completed within timescales and to budget, and adhering to high standards of research quality.
Produce and publish project findings, including formal reports, informal progress updates to client/partners, press releases and blog posts. Ensure project outcomes are presented to clients and stakeholders as actionable.
Feed project findings into product development, and ensure learning is captured from HACT research and health work and that this feeds back into practice to support continuous improvement.
Be a point of contact for internal and client queries on both HACT's Housing & Heath Programme and Research Portfolio and liaise with housing providers and NHS providers interested in HACT's research and health offers. Arrange and coordinate project events, including partner and client meetings, workshops and conferences.
Work in partnership with key delivery partners/associates, coordinating and managing resources, information flows and internal/external project team inputs. Manage partner relationships, providing clarity on roles and division of labour and ensuring deliverables area achieved.
Represent and promote HACT's research and heath work, services and publications, building sector-wide understanding and use of HACT's products, services and projects at major housing conferences and other events. Stay abreast of issues in the social housing and health sectors and feed these into HACT work.

Essential

Minimum three years of experience designing and delivering research and evaluation projects or services in a consultancy/public policy/services environment.
Expert, applied, knowledge of research and evaluation methods. Demonstrable track record preparing successful research/evaluation project proposals and/or funding bids, including setting and monitoring budgets and timescales for projects.
Strong relationship management and collaboration skills, with an ability to engage, communicate and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at different levels. Experience of managing multi-partner/ stakeholder projects.
Excellent, concise writing skills and the ability to communicate complicated ideas in simple terms and to a variety of audiences, through a range of media.
Ability to work autonomously, use initiative and work independently to drive projects through to completion.
An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject

Desirable

Experience of research in the field of health and social care delivery.
Experience of trial design and/or experimental methods in social research.

The role is mostly remote working from home, there is a requirement to occasionally work at the HACT office in London and with clients at locations around the UK.

Salary: £32,000-£35,000 (depending on experience) plus contributory pension 4% - 5%

Hours: Full time 35 hours a week (Flexible working)
