Grade/Pay Scale: UoG G8 (£44,045 - £51,034 per annum)

This position is being offered on a full-time (35 hours p/w) and fixed-term basis for 2 years.

The University of Glasgow has embarked upon an exciting strategic transformation programme: covering significant changes to the staff and student experience, via a significant investment in the IT infrastructure that supports the university and the formation of the World Changing Glasgow Transformation team to bring organisational, process, system, and service improvements.

IT Services (part of Information Services)

IT Services provides enterprise applications, desktops and the supporting infrastructure to meet the needs of the University's staff and students. As well as ensuring that the existing services are secure and efficiently run, the team are focussed on a number of transformational change initiatives.

Network Infrastructure Investment Programme (NIIP)

The UofG has established a 'Network Infrastructure Investment Programme' ("NIIP") to upgrade and modernise its existing network infrastructure. The UofG's ambitions are to design and build a forward thinking, future proof network infrastructure to underpin current and future business needs whilst considering and demonstrating value for money. The NIIP will not only invest now to modernise the network but also sustain investment on an ongoing basis to ensure that the UofG's network continues to meet the needs and ambitions of its users (i.e. its students, staff, visitors (incl. Suppliers and guests) and remote users of digital services).

The NIIP has successfully moved through Phase 1 (Discovery) and Phase 2 (High Level Design) and is now in Phase 3 - Procurement of a suitable partner / supplier for Phases 4 (Network Foundation and Target Operating Model)) and 5+ (Network Edge, including Wi-Fi expansion). In addition, the NIIP is also in the process of recruiting additional roles to both supplement the NIIP team as well as expand the operational IT Services team in line with the Target Operating Model.

who: require access to any (of the UofG's) digital services including internet / Wi-Fi connectivity for campus based users

is a: functioning fourth utility that invisibly enables emerging business needs and demonstrates value for money

that: provides resilient, unbroken, pervasive connectivity that 'just works'

unlike: the existing network that is an ageing and over-complicated network infrastructure that has emerged over the last decade

our solution: invests now to modernise the network and also sustains investment on an ongoing basis to ensure the UofG network continues to meet the needs of its Users and does not end up in current situation again

In this post you will lead, cultivate and maintain a proactive, strategic and well-managed approach to change management and continuous improvement delivered as part of the Network Infrastructure Investment Programme (NIIP). You will be responsible for the organisational design and delivery of the Network Infrastructure Investment Programme (NIIP): this is a pivotal role to aid the overall transformation to the Target Operating Model.

You will work collaboratively with the overall NIIP Programme Manager and be a strong influencer in the NIIPs Communications and Stakeholder Management delivery and assist the Programme Manager and PMO resource in the governance of the NIIP.
