Overview of the position

The purpose of this role is to support the Finance Department during a period of transition from an old to new accounting system, to ensure purchase invoices are processed and settled within terms, sales invoices are raised and managed in a timely manner, payroll is processed accurately and other ad hoc duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

The specific duties and responsibilities of the position are as follows:
To manage the Accounts inbox, ensuring that purchase invoices are processed with suitable authorisation, entered on to the system and paid within terms.
To raise sales invoices as required, ensure that they are entered on to the system in a timely and accurate manner, record and post payments and ensure debtors are managed in a timely fashion.
To monitor and manage employee expense and credit card claims on the SUN Accounting System, ensuring they are promptly and accurately entered and reconciled to payment.
To manage the payroll process on Sage, including the posting and reconciliation of monthly journals.
To assist Research teams with their project reporting requirements.
Other ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

A part-qualified accountant or experienced book keeper.
Previous experience of managing payroll, purchase and sales ledgers, strong reconciliation skills and the ability to hit the ground running.
Good computer literacy and excel spreadsheet skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
Good communication skills.
Sun Accounting experience (essential).
Sage payroll experience (desirable).

Location

This person will be based at RUSI's offices at 123 Pall Mall, subject to Government Guidance re the COVID pandemic on working from home.

Hours and Remuneration

This role is a temporary (initially 6 months) full time (37.5 hours/week) position reporting to the Head of Finance.

The salary range is £28,000 to £30,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
