Job Details

Harris Academy Orpington is looking to appoint an hard-working Premises Officer to ensure the provision of a safe, clean, attractive learning environment,

Your opportunity

You will be part of a team undertaking responsibility for the maintenance, security, health and safety of the academy site (including grounds, buildings, facilities and equipment), ensuring that they operate efficiently and effectively.

This role will involve general maintenance across a large school site; there will be elements of lone working when unlocking and securing of the buildings and site as required, and ensuring the school is running smoothly. There is a level of flexibility required and being well organised ensuring daily tasks are carried out maintaining the Academy to a high standard.

The working hours for this will be:
  • 5:30 to 14:00 or 10:30 to 19:00 - term time
  • 8:00 to 16:00 - holiday hours

What we are looking for

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning. The successful candidate will have:
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and requirements;
  • Basic training in one or more of the following: plumbing, general and ground maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems (or sound experience of same)
  • Basic knowledge of the operation of heating, ventilating systems and common causes of malfunctions;
  • Knowledge of maintenance and security systems and procedures Knowledge of supervisory skills;
  • Understanding of appropriate cleaning methods and standards;
  • Experience of working in an inner city school or educational establishment with children and young people
  • Considerable DIY experience
