We are a leading provider of products and consulting services to the capital markets industry, with 2400+ staff globally. First Derivatives (FD) is a provider of regulatory and IT consulting services to the capital markets industry as well as high-performance time-series database software. The combined proposition gives FD a differentiated offering within capital markets, an industry increasingly challenged by regulation and data management. Additionally, FD has begun to establish itself in a number of industries outside of capital markets.

We currently have an excellent opportunity within our Vendor Services Practice. In this role, you will

provide fast and useful technical assistance on computer systems. You will answer queries on technical issues and offer advice to solve them. An exceptional Helpdesk technician must have good technical knowledge and communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution. They must also be user-focused and patient in dealing with demanding users

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance over the phone or email
  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware
  • Respond to queries either in person or over the phone
  • Walk the user through the problem-solving process
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software
  • Provide accurate information on IT products or services
  • Record events and problems and their resolution in logs
  • Follow-up and update user status and information
  • Pass on any feedback or suggestions by users to the appropriate internal team
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements in procedures
  • Install computer peripherals for users.
  • Follow up with users to ensure resolution of issues


Key Skills & Experience


  • Proven experience as a helpdesk technician or other IT support role
  • Tech savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, databases and remote control.
  • Experience with;
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft Azure Active Directory
  • Microsoft Office
  • VMWare
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products
  • Demonstrable problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Customer-oriented


  • Desirable experience / skills
  • Experience working in other financial institutions Hedge Funds, Investment Banking or Insurance
  • Experience working in an ITIL service management environment
