A very appealing and dynamic role is available due to growth of the brands team of a sought after retail company.

The Finance team plays a key role in setting the pace for key business decisions, shaping budgets, analysing sales, managing costs and making sure data is accurate.

With a focus on adding value to all business areas by helping them make data-driven decisions and understand what is driving commercial performance

The role is to support the launch of 3rd party brands in, ensuring reporting and business processes are robust.

Supporting the commercial team nd brands business to achieve profit, stock and cash targets, working as a commercial business partner delivering insight and analysis to influence the brand's business as well as delivering strong financial controls.

Key accountabilities and measures
  • Understand key sales, margin and profitability drivers and undertake analysis to support driving profitable sales and maximise margin and assisting with P&L reporting
  • Support with the preparation of packs for the review of monthly performance with the leadership team
  • Reporting on operating costs and capex spend on brands, holding the business partners to account on spend and monitoring return on investment
  • Supporting the merchandising team to reduce and optimise markdown spend
  • Monitoring the performance of the different Brand business models
  • Work with the SFM to ensuring strong financial control across the trading, planning and forecasting processes
  • Utilising available analytical tools and work with Digital & data and Finance centre of excellence teams to help the SFM develop best in class tools to support the Brands business
  • Ad hoc analysis, including scenario modelling on new initiatives, product areas and promotions
  • Focus on stock holdings on wholesale brands, monitoring the gross profit return on stock investment, making sure stock holdings are aligned to forward plans and supporting the business to exit terminal stock in the most profitable way
  • Support the setup of new brands and manage the portfolio of risk on existing brands
  • Meet agreed performance objectives and ways of working; identify and progress areas for personal development

Key skills
  • Strong commercial finance experience ideally in the Retail sector
  • Ability to communicate to management, business partners and other finance teams
  • Someone who is enthusiastic, resilient and adaptable
  • Good commercial understanding of the business & market
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Stock management experience beneficial
  • Quick learner, hardworking and solution driven
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Finance systems knowledge
  • Maintenance of meticulous financial controls
  • Finalist/Qualified Accountant - CIMA/ACCA/ACA
  • Other systems knowledge (e.g. MP, BI, GMOR, BPC and SAP) is a benefit, but not essential
