hackajob is partnering up with a UK-based multi-channel retailer. They are a collaborative, bold, and forward-thinking agile team, always eager to embrace and adopt new technologies.

As a Junior Platform Engineer, you will be part of a team who are responsible for the configuration, management and maintenance of the ecommerce systems.

About the role:

Day to day tasks vary from assisting developers and driving operational improvements to supporting production and non-production environments.

You'll be expected to work on creating and maintaining reliable, scalable solutions whilst facilitating continuous development and always considering automation.

What you will be responsible for:

•Maintain high server availability, monitoring Web infrastructure and responding to alerts

•Investigating issues that would affect site performance, stability and security

•Ensure continued performance and efficiency (Re-Indexing, Archiving, Etc.)

•Work closely with sprint development teams to update/add services

•Configure and manage cloud servers within production, test and development environments

•Regular performance tuning, upgrades, resource optimization and capacity planning

•Monitor the hardware and software that runs web/app infrastructure

•Monitor and report on current capacity and performance.

•Communicate with third parties & technical partners to resolve issues

•Pro-active diagnosis & correction of faults identified plus liaison with the other internal IT teams to achieve fault resolution

•Prioritise workload and tasks according to business priority/impact

•Work closely with DevOps engineers and sprint development teams to ensure new services/development are seamless

•Become an expert on a given product domain from both a business and technical standpoint.

•Handle urgent escalation issues, ensuring we accurately prioritise based on severity and customer impact, while providing accurate/timely communications to customers in a non-technical style

•Out of hours 24/7 support on a rota basis

What we are looking for:

•Good Knowledge of Puppet and Git

•Knowledge of core AWS services - EC2, ELB, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, CloudFront

•Experience with Kubernetes

•Linux Systems Administration

•DevOps and infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform

•Knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python and PHP

•Creating deployment pipelines using Jenkins

•Application troubleshooting tools such as New Relic

•Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills

•Capacity management, load/performance testing

•Excellent teamworking and communication skills

•Working in sprints
