We are looking to hire a proactive finance professional with excellent stakeholder management abilities to play an integral part in scaling a fast growth business and to facilitate international expansion. Reporting to the Head of Finance Operations this role will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks across our global offices to support setting up new entities, international tax and treasury management and investment rounds.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to gain well rounded experience within a top fintech company as it scales. Thought Machine's finance group operates a rotation policy that facilitates further development opportunities within the wider finance organisation.

  • Manage Finance Close for assigned Corporate entities, in accordance with prescribed deadlines
  • Assist in ad hoc reports and insights to Finance Management and the Leadership Team
  • Prepare accruals and other schedules, reconciliations, and payroll information as required
  • Work with Company's out-sourced payroll providers in relation to continuous control and efficiency improvements
  • Correspond with other departments as required to gain necessary insight and understanding of financial data and financial information
  • Responsible for the preparation of the monthly management accounts
  • Prepare of quarterly financial reviews, business partnering the various budget holders to understand their progress against the forward plan
  • Assist with the external Audit
  • Improve transactional processes and controls, taking charge of monitoring and identifying ways to make transactional processing (such as expenses, supplier invoicing, Payroll etc) more efficient
  • Point of contact for the wider business on finance processes, such as Purchasing, Expenses etc
  • Support the setting up of new entity payroll's


  • Qualified or near qualification of either; CIMA, ACCA or ACA
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills
  • Able to identify control weaknesses and proactively suggest and implement improvements where required
  • Capable of working under pressure to continually meet tight deadlines
  • Professional, committed and organised with a drive for results
  • Ambitious to get to the next level and progress their career in finance
  • Advanced Excel skills (at least Pivots, SUMIFS, INDEXMATCH) and able to demonstrate this

  • International exposure, preferably with experience in setting up new entities
  • Experience of international entity consolidation and group reporting
  • Workday experience an advantage
  • Experience of working in or with scale-up businesses
  • Prior payroll experience
